RAS  - Intensive Aquaculture Farming

Intensive land based fish farming  is now a  principal form of aquaculture sometimes titled  mariculture, gaining worldwide recognition and acceptance as the alternate and sustainable  approach to that of wild catch.

Barramundi Blue’s Aquaculture RAS farming operations successfully raise selected species, both in freshwater and marine environments  at intensive biomass stocking levels from 45-80kg/m3 under self-developed technologies within  a bio-secure, disease free environment, supported by operational programs (SOP)  for both commercial sale and humanitarian needs.

Barramundi Blue’s  Aquaculture  RAS offer fish production levels with flexibility as to  increase biomass stocking levels thru variation of  oxygen,   water recirculation and designed FCR programs.  

Whilst the initial cost of intensive farming inputs per unit of fish weight is higher than extensive farming, the long term benefits in that of reduced FCR’s, labor, energy per/kg and the ability to meet market demand  as and when required  should be taken in to consideration, similarly  greater biosecurity with less mortalities, reduction   feed loss to mortalities and lower water per unit of production resulting in overall lower  operational expenses.
